Somwarpet: A 62-year-old man lost his life in a tragic elephant attack in the Yadavanadu reserve forest of Somwarpet taluk, Kodagu district, Karnataka.

The victim, identified as Girijanara Tammu, was discovered approximately 500 metres from Kuppadi Haadi within the forest. Forest Range Officer (RFO) Shailendra confirmed that the fatal encounter occurred three days earlier. Following the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gangadarappa, accompanied by his team, visited the location for an inspection.

The incident has raised concerns over human-wildlife conflicts in the region, which is home to dense forests and thriving wildlife.

Such incidents highlight the complex dynamics of life in and around forested regions in Karnataka, where human activity frequently intersects with wildlife habitats.
