Bengaluru: The Cauvery Theerthodbhava which is set to take place at Talacauvery on October 17 at 7:40 a.m. In preparation for this sacred occasion, the Karnataka Muzrai Department has released ₹75 lakh to ensure its successful festival.
Speaking to The Kodagu Express, Ramalinga Reddy, Karnataka’s Transport and Muzrai Minister, highlighted the importance of the festival, stating that the funds will be dedicated to facilitating the event at Talacauvery, the lifeline for millions across the state. He expressed his commitment to celebrating the festival grandly, emphasizing the need for comprehensive facilities for the thousands of devotees expected to attend from various parts of Karnataka and neighboring states.

The Theerthodbhava ritual is steeped in tradition and is believed to bestow blessings on those who partake in it. Many devotees collect the holy water from the event, considered auspicious and taken home for worship. During the ceremony, attendees immerse themselves in the sacred pond, engaging in a ritual thought to cleanse both body and soul. This event holds immense cultural and religious significance for the people of Kodagu and the broader Cauvery basin region.
To accommodate the anticipated influx of devotees, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) also plans to operate special buses from Madikeri and other nearby towns. Pilgrims are expected to travel not only from Karnataka but also from states like Tamil Nadu, where the Cauvery River is integral to their cultural and daily lives.
Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna have also actively sought funds to ensure adequate arrangements and facilities for the arriving devotees.
