Chendanda Family Triumphs in Kundyolanda Hockey Carnival Finale

The Chendanda family clinched victory in this year's tournament.

Napoklu: The Kundyolanda Family wrapped up their month-long Hockey Carnival at the Gen Thimmaiah Hockey Ground in Napoklu, Kodagu district on Sunday, April 28th. 

The Chendanda family clinched victory in this year's tournament. In the match between Nellamakkada and Chendanda, Chendanda triumphed in a nail-biting tiebreaker, winning 8-7. Nellamakkada's Somaiah was named Man of the Match. Goal scorers were Chendanda's Nikkin Thimmaiah at 30 and 38 minutes, and Nellamakkada's Rohan at 44 minutes and Mac at 54 minutes.

The annual Kodava hockey tournament, hosted by the Kodava community in Kodagu, has earned itself a Guinness World Record for being the largest field hockey tournament.

This year, the Kundyolanda Hockey Carnival, organized by the Kundyolanda Family at Gen Thimmaiah Hockey Ground in Napoklu, Kodagu district, secured this prestigious record. 

Originating in 1996 with just 60 teams, the festival has grown exponentially, boasting  360 teams participating this year.
