Madikeri/Virajpet: Kodagu district came alive with festive spirit as Christmas was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Tuesday. Devotees gathered in large numbers for the midnight services held at churches across the district, marking the joyous occasion.
At St Michael’s Church in Madikeri, Rev Fr George Deepak led the midnight mass, drawing thousands of worshippers. The celebration was highlighted by the placement of the Infant Jesus in the crib at the stroke of midnight, followed by special prayers. The church was adorned in festive décor, and the event saw the participation of both residents and visiting tourists, adding to the city's vibrant atmosphere.
In Virajpet, MLA A.S. Ponnanna joined the Christmas festivities at the historic St Anne’s Church. He attended special prayers conducted by Rev Fr Madalaimuthu and Rev Fr James Dominic. The occasion brought together community members and visitors to share in the spirit of goodwill and joy.
Meanwhile, St Sebastian’s Church in Kushalnagar also witnessed a grand celebration. Rev Fr Manoj Kumar led the mass prayers, which were attended by a large gathering of devotees. The celebrations were further enriched by cribs displayed in various households across the district, reflecting the creative spirit and devotion of the community.
