Madikeri: Coffee prices in Kodagu, Karnataka, remained stable on Friday. Robusta Cherry EP is 495(spot lift), while Robusta Fruit stood at ₹115 per kg. Arabica Cherry was sold at ₹16,000 per bag.
Traders and growers in the region noted that prices have been fluctuating in recent weeks due to multiple factors, including global demand, weather conditions, and domestic consumption trends. While Robusta varieties continue to see stable demand, Arabica remains a premium product, fetching higher prices.
Kodagu, often referred to as the coffee capital of Karnataka, is the largest coffee-producing district in India. The region is known for its high-quality Arabica and Robusta varieties, cultivated on plantations spread across its lush hills. Coffee farming in Kodagu is primarily carried out on small and medium-sized estates, with a mix of traditional and modern processing methods.
Karnataka accounts for nearly 70% of India’s total coffee production, with Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, and Hassan being the key coffee-growing regions. The state’s coffee, known for its rich aroma and full-bodied flavour, is highly sought after in international markets.
