Virajpet: M. Lakshman, the Congress candidate for the Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency, affirmed the party's acknowledgement of its workers during a gathering in Virajpet on Sunday March 31. Mr Lakshman, addressing the party cadre, emphasized that his candidacy exemplified the party's recognition of grassroots workers, despite lacking a political lineage or financial clout.

"I am a party worker like you. Yet the party recognized me and fielded me in the elections. This shows that party workers should not lose confidence, as their service will eventually be acknowledged," Mr Lakshman remarked, urging diligence and commitment from fellow members.

Expressing gratitude for being nominated, Mr Lakshman implored party workers to support his campaign, highlighting his dedication to serving the people of Mysuru and Kodagu. He underscored the developmental strides witnessed under previous Congress regimes, contrasting it with what he termed as "zero development" during the BJP's tenure.

Mr Lakshman outlined his vision for Kodagu, including efforts to incorporate the Kodava language into the 8th Schedule, establishing a tourism development authority, and addressing coffee growers' concerns regarding price stability.

Accompanied by MLA A.S. Ponnanna, Mr Lakshman cited developmental initiatives undertaken in various Gram Panchayats, lauding Mr Ponnanna's contributions as a first-time legislator.

Ministers H.C. Mahadevappa and K. Venkatesh, alongside Mr Ponnanna, lent their support to Mr Lakshman's candidacy, reiterating their commitment to advancing the region's interests.

Former MLA Yathindra Siddaramaiah also present at the event and underlined the significance of the upcoming elections for the region's future.
