Madikeri: Diya Bheemaiah Boppanda, hailing from Kodagu, has been chosen to represent Karnataka at the 36th Sub-Junior Yonex Sunrise National Badminton Championship, set to take place in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from October 20 to 25.
As the top-ranked player in the state, Diya will compete in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories for the Karnataka team in the under-17 age group. She will partner with Mysuru's Amit Raj Nataraj in mixed doubles and Tamil Nadu's Varna P in doubles.
Diya's impressive performance in recent tournaments has garnered pride for her hometown of Madikeri, Kodagu. Currently pursuing her first Pre-University Course (PUC) at Vidyashram PU College in Mysuru, she trains rigorously under the guidance of her coaches, Medura Arun Pemmaiah and BP Bheemaiah, at the Sports Park Academy.
Diya is the daughter of Boppanda Kusuma and Bheemaiah, who reside in Dechur, Madikeri. Her selection for the national championship reflects her dedication and passion for badminton, inspiring young athletes in her community.
