Virajpet/Mysuru: Kodagu district police have taken a man into custody after he streamed a Facebook Live video claiming he would end his life due to alleged harassment by resort owners. The individual was tracked down and apprehended in Mysuru, where authorities have registered a case against him.

The arrested man has been identified as Praveen Aravind, a former manager at a resort in Perumbadi, near Arji village in Virajpet taluk. In the live video, Praveen accused the resort owners of mistreating him and stated that he was planning to take his own life. Acting swiftly, the Kodagu police traced his location and, with assistance from the Lashkar Mohalla police in Mysuru, detained him from a lodge in the city. He was subsequently brought back to Kodagu for further questioning.

Investigations have revealed that Praveen was previously employed as a manager at the resort, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Virajpet Police Station. He is now facing allegations of financial misappropriation, with accusations that he siphoned off funds and stole valuables, including coffee, pepper, and construction materials worth an estimated ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore.

On March 30, the resort owner lodged a formal complaint at Virajpet Town Police Station, alleging fraudulent activities and fund mismanagement by Praveen. According to a Udayavani report, speaking about the case, Kodagu Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan confirmed that an investigation is underway based on the complaint and the available evidence.
