Virajpet: Four students from Kodagu showcased their talent at the recent Rumble skateboarding event hosted by The School of Raya in Bengaluru on May 4.
Daivik, Yazani, Prapthi, and Manvik, along with their coach Somanna M.R, demonstrated their skills amidst tough competition.
Prapthi, a student at Lions School Gonikoppal, distinguished herself among her peers with an impressive performance, according to her coach Somanna. Her venture into skateboarding commenced upon discovering Soms Skateboarding Program, a small state-of-the-art facility for training in skateboarding, sports, and games. Intrigued by the opportunity, Prapthi signed up for the regular skateboarding program.
Under Somanna’s guidance, Prapthi honed her skills over the course of a month, showing dedication and passion for the sport. “Her hard work paid off when she secured the third position in the under-14 category at the Rumble event. Her achievement not only highlights her individual talent but also speaks volumes about the effectiveness of grassroots programs like Soms Skateboarding Program in nurturing young talent,” Somanna said.
“Prapthi's success serves as an inspiration to aspiring skateboarders in Kodagu and beyond. It underscores the importance of providing access to proper training facilities and opportunities for youth to pursue their passions. Her journey from discovering skateboarding to clinching a podium finish is a testament to the transformative power of sports in shaping young lives,” he added.
