Heavy Rain Forecast for Kodagu Over the Next 24 Hours

While Kodagu is set for heavy rainfall today, the forecast for the following days indicates a shift to moderate rain across the region.

Madikeri: Kodagu district is expected to experience isolated heavy rains and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast. The weather report issued for October 8, 2024, highlights that Kodagu, along with neighbouring districts like Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga, could witness significant downpours.

While Kodagu is set for heavy rainfall today, the forecast for the following days indicates a shift to moderate rain across the region. On October 9, the district will see light to moderate rain, with showers continuing at a moderate level until October 10. This pattern is expected to persist, with sporadic showers until October 14.

Residents and tourists are advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to landslides and waterlogging.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the presence of a cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Additionally, a trough is currently running from North Coastal Tamil Nadu to this cyclonic system, crossing Kerala at an altitude of up to 1.5 km. As a result of these weather conditions, a low-pressure area is likely to form over Lakshadweep and the adjoining southeast and east-central Arabian Sea around October 9. This system is expected to move northwestwards in the following days, potentially influencing weather patterns in the surrounding regions, including Kodagu.
