Madikeri: Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones toured Kodagu recently after the former was honoured at the International Film Festival (IFFA) in Goa.
The Hollywood power couple along with their son, enjoyed a stay at a luxurious resort in Madikeri and explored the Mercara Downs Golf Club, participating in a round of golf. Sources mention that Mr. Michael Douglas specifically requested to maintain the confidentiality of their visit.
According to sources, Mr. Michael Douglas and his family were impressed by the vast 102-acre Golf Club in Coorg, considering it an excellent retreat for relaxation and quality family time.
Following the IFFA event in Goa, the family traveled to Tamil Nadu, exploring the historic city of Thanjavur and the breathtaking Brihadishvara Temple. This magnificent Chola period temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is celebrated for its exquisite architecture.

Continuing their journey, the family took a break at Kabini, relishing a day at a private resort, before arriving in Madikeri on December 5. At the 54th IIFA in Goa, Mr. Michael Douglas received the Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award.
On Friday, December 8th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a photo of actor Michael Douglas and his family during their visit to South India. "Thanjavur is truly beautiful! India has much more to offer, captivating tourists from around the world," PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
