IMD Issues ‘Red Alert’ for Parts of Kodagu, Rain Expected Over Next 3 Hours

BENGALURU/MADIKERI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for isolated places in Kodagu district, warning of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the next three hours.


In its nowcast bulletin released on Monday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m., the IMD stated that rain and thundershowers with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph are likely to occur at isolated locations in the district. The red alert indicates that the weather conditions could pose a risk to life and property, and residents are advised to remain indoors and take necessary precautions.

Kodagu, also known as Coorg, has been experiencing sporadic rainfall over the past few days. The IMD continues to monitor the situation and has advised residents to follow updates from local authorities and disaster management teams.
