Madikeri: The Kodava Cricket Academy has announced the second edition of the Inter-Kodava Samaja Leather-Ball Cricket Tournament, which is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 4, 2024. This year’s matches will be held at the Vijayalakshmi Junior College Grounds in Balele, Kodagu district.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural tournament, which was held in Virajpet with participation from 10 Kodava Samajas, the academy is excited to make this an annual event. The tournament aims to foster engagement among Kodava youth while promoting leather-ball cricket in the region, with the goal of discovering new cricketing talent from Kodagu.
To elevate the level of competition, this year’s format has been expanded to include guest players from Bengaluru and Mysuru, adding depth to the teams and increasing the overall standard of play. Organizers have also introduced attractive cash prizes and trophies for winners, runners-up, and special categories, adding extra incentive for participants.
All Kodava cricket enthusiasts are encouraged to connect with their respective Kodava Samajas and register their teams for the tournament. “We are hopeful that this year’s event will be bigger and better, providing a platform for talented players and fostering a love for the sport in the community,” Cheranda Kishan, Vice President of Kodava Cricket Academy said.
