Virajpet/Madikeri: In a spirited address to a gathering in Virajpet, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was in Kodagu on January 25, appealed to the residents of Kodagu to throw their support behind the Congress party in the forthcoming elections.

The Chief Minister's address coincided with his active participation in the foundation laying and inaugural ceremony of several development projects in Virajpet. During his speech, Siddaramaiah emphasized the Congress government's accomplishments in the state, asserting that despite facing challenges and limited support from the Central government, they have successfully implemented their promises.

"Critics may mock our manifesto, but we have fulfilled the five guarantees we presented to the people. The central government led by Narendra Modi ridiculed our commitments, yet we have remained true to our word," said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Taking a swipe at BJP MP Pratap Simha, MrSiddaramaiah accused him of failing to allocate funds for the district's development and urged the people to ensure his defeat in the upcoming MP election. The Chief Minister urged Kodagu residents to elect a Congress MP, asserting that it would strengthen the current Congress MLAs.

Mr Siddaramaiah underscored Congress's commitment to representing the interests of the poor and marginalized, pledging that the party would continue to uphold secular values unlike the saffron-led Central government.

"Unlike the BJP, which has shown disregard for the Constitution, Congress has consistently stood by it and promoted secularism," asserted Mr Siddaramaiah, referencing BJP minister Ananthkumar Hegde's controversial statements about changing the constitution.

Highlighting the statewide implementation of the five guarantees, the Chief Minister emphasized their non-discriminatory nature, stating, "These guarantees are not confined to one religion or caste, promoting the ideals of secularism."

In a final taunt, Siddaramaiah questioned Prime Minister Modi's promise of "Ache Din" and Rs 2 crore employment for youths, asking, "Where is 'ache din'?" as he criticized the unfulfilled pledges of the ruling party.
