Bhagamandala: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who visited Kodagu on January 31, assured additional funds for the district’s road and infrastructure development ahead of the upcoming State Budget.

Speaking at Bhagamandala while inaugurating a newly constructed flyover, Siddaramaiah reiterated his commitment to Kodagu’s progress. He recalled that during his previous tenure as Chief Minister, his administration had provided financial aid for the district’s growth and pledged to continue that support this time as well.

Expressing gratitude to the electorate for electing Congress representatives in both Assembly constituencies of Kodagu, he stated that the party had delivered on its commitments. “Between 2013 and 2018, we made 165 promises, of which 158 were fulfilled. However, the BJP government that followed has failed to meet even 10 per cent of its manifesto pledges,” he alleged.

The Chief Minister also announced that the State government would soon introduce an Ordinance aimed at curbing the reported harassment of borrowers by microfinance institutions. He emphasised that Congress’ welfare guarantees had significantly empowered people, and voters had recognised which party had truly honoured its commitments.

The event was attended by Kodagu’s district in-charge minister N.S. Boseraju, along with MLAs A.S. Ponnanna and Mantar Gowda.
