Bengaluru: On Monday, the Karnataka High Court reviewed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding Codavaland’s geopolitical autonomy, filed by former Union Minister Subramanian Swamy, with legal support from Kieran Narayan, Satya Sabharwal, and Vishesh Kanodia. The petition, championed by the Codava National Council (CNC) and represented by its Chairman N.U. Nachappa as Petitioner No. 2, seeks to address issues surrounding Codavaland’s autonomy.
In this case, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the Union Ministry of Law, and the State of Karnataka are listed as respondents. The court heard submissions from Swamy and other impleading applicants before adjourning the matter until October 21, 2024, for further deliberation.
Notable attendees at the court proceedings included Virat Hindustan Sangham National General Secretary Jagdish Shetty, and several CNC members. According to release by CNC. “The Codava National Council continues to push for increased geopolitical autonomy for Codavaland, emphasizing their advocacy for regional rights and representation,” Nachappa said.
