Kodagu Bids Farewell to Fallen Soldier with Full State Honours


The Army facilitated the journey, ensuring dignified handling of the mortal remains.

Siddapura: Kodagu district came together on Wednesday to bid a solemn farewell to soldier P.P. Divin, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a military vehicle accident in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. His final rites were performed with full state honours at his hometown, Malambi, near Alur Siddapura.


The soldier’s body was transported to Kushalanagar late Tuesday night, having arrived at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru earlier. The Army facilitated the journey, ensuring dignified handling of the mortal remains.


The district administration arranged a public homage at the Government Model Primary School in Kushalanagar on Wednesday morning. From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., citizens gathered to pay their respects, alongside Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu, Venkataraja, and other senior officials, who laid wreaths in tribute.


The body was later taken in a solemn military procession to Alur Siddapura, where another public viewing was held at the local Government Primary School. Following this, the procession moved to Malambi, where relatives, friends, and community members honoured the soldier’s sacrifice.


Prominent figures, including MLA Mantar Gowda, former MLAs K.G. Bopaiah and Appacchu Ranjan, and Superintendent of Police, Ramarajan, joined the gathering to pay their respects.
