Madikeri: The 25th edition of the Gowda Premier League Cricket Tournament was inaugurated with much fanfare at the General KS Thimayya district grounds in Madikeri. Organized by the Kodagu Gowda Yuva Vedike, the leather ball tournament features 10 franchise teams from the Gowda community.
The event was officially inaugurated by former MLA K. G. Bopaiah, on April 17 who expressed his pride in the long-standing tradition of the tournament and its contribution to promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie within the community.
The tournament, which commenced on April 17, is scheduled to run until April 28, offering cricket enthusiasts in the community and district nearly two weeks of thrilling cricket action. Since its inception in 1997, the Gowda Premier League has been a popular annual event, fostering local talent and nurturing young cricketers from the community, according to organisers.
Organizers anticipate a successful tournament that will continue to build on the legacy of the Gowda Premier League, celebrating 25 years of cricketing excellence.
