New Delhi: Valdel Advanced Technologies, headed by Kodagu native Pattamada Hemant Achaiah, has been recognised by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for successfully completing a project to design and manufacture composite doors and hatches for Naval ships. According to Achaiah, these doors are one of only two such products in the world.

On October 18, Achaiah handed over a model of the product to Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Vice Chief of the Indian Navy, in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi.

The recognition came during Twaral, a DRDO-Industry Workshop on Defence Technology Acceleration, where Rajnath Singh addressed scientists, industry leaders, academia, start-ups, MSMEs, and young entrepreneurs. He highlighted the importance of innovation in the defence sector and praised efforts to enhance India's naval capabilities.

A press release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) stated: "Design and Development of Water Tight/Gas Tight and Fire Class EMI/EMC compliant doors and hatches for Naval Ships by Valdel Advanced Technologies Pvt Ltd. for the Indian Navy."
