Madikeri: The Kodagu district administration has issued a stern warning to home-stay operators who fail to register with the Tourism Department, stating that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
Anita Bhaskar, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, emphasised that despite multiple reminders, several home-stay owners have not completed the mandatory registration process. “If home-stays continue to operate without registration, we will take strict legal action against them,” she stated.
As per government regulations, all home-stays in the district must register with the Tourism Department to ensure compliance with tourism laws. The authorities have now mandated that unregistered home-stays complete the registration process immediately or face legal consequences.
The Tourism Department has streamlined the registration process through its online portal at https://kttf.karnatakatourism.org/login. During official inspections, home-stay operators must present either a home-stay certificate or proof of registration application. Failure to provide these documents will result in legal action.
The department is also encouraging the public to report any unregistered home-stays. Complaints can be submitted to the Deputy Director of the Tourism Department at the Office of the Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, Stuart Hill Road, Madikeri, Kodagu District 571201. Additionally, reports can be sent via email to ddkodagutourism@gmail.com or made over the phone at 08272-200519.
“With tourism being a key industry in Kodagu, we are determined to regulate the sector to ensure quality standards and compliance with legal requirements,” another official from the tourism department said.
