Light to Moderate Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Kodagu and Other Districts in Karnataka

The IMD nowcast warns of possible power outages, minor traffic congestion, and weak tree branches uprooting.

Bengaluru/Madikeri: The Meteorological Centre of India Meteorological Department(IMD) in Bengaluru has issued a nowcast predicting light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning, in Kodagu and several other districts over the next three hours.

The forecast, issued at 7:00 PM, also includes Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Mysuru, and Shivamogga in Karnataka.

The weather conditions could lead to temporary disruptions in electricity supply, minor traffic congestion, and possible uprooting of weak tree branches, according to a nowcast issued by IMD.

A nowcast is a short-term weather forecast that provides predictions for the next few hours, usually up to six hours. It is based on real-time weather observations, radar, and satellite data to give quick and accurate updates on immediate weather conditions.
