Lopamudra hospital introduces 5G ambulance for advanced emergency care in Kodagu

Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, the Virajpet MLA and Karnataka CM’s Legal advisor, officially launched the ambulance service.

Gonikoppa: The Lopamudra Multi-Specialty Hospital, located in Gonikoppa in Kodagu district, has recently introduced state of the art ambulance equipped with 5G technology. This initiative aims to efficiently address the emergency requirements of the district's residents.

According to a statement by the hospital, it is the first time in Karnataka, a state of the art ambulance, enabled with 5G to support tele medical assistance and remote emergency care has been launched by Lopamudra Hospitals.

The ambulance service is a collaborative effort involving Lopamudra Multi-Specialty Hospital, Apollo Hospitals, and AK Subbaiah-Ponnamma Endowment and Educational Trust.

Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, the Virajpet MLA and Karnataka Chief Minister’s Legal advisor, officially launched the ambulance service and said, "this state-of-the-art ambulance facility will greatly benefit the people of the district. I extend my appreciation to both Lopamudra Hospital and Apollo Hospital, as well as our trust, for their contribution to this ambulance service. The commendable efforts of Lopamudra Hospitals will undoubtedly save lives in this region."

Dr. Mukkatira Amrith Nanaiah, the Managing Director of Lopamudra Multi-Specialty Hospital, explained how this ambulance works and said, "For the past decade, we have been dedicated to providing effective cardio care to the people in the district. The introduction of this 5G-enabled ambulance is a significant step forward in enhancing emergency services for numerous patients. Previously, we encountered a practical challenge where, during ambulance transfers, irregular road surfaces such as humps or potholes would disrupt the proper recording of ECG waves, making it challenging for doctors to accurately assess the patient's condition.”

“With the innovative Heart Patch, equipped with 5G technology, placed on the patient's chest in this ambulance, we can now continuously monitor vital signs and instantly transmit all patient data to the hospital's war room. This ambulance essentially functions as a mobile ICU, allowing doctors to make life-saving decisions about the patient's care as they reach the hospital,” Dr. Nanaiah added.
