Lucknow: Lieutenant Aishwarya AG, a 24-year-old officer hailing from Kodagu, displayed exemplary leadership as the Parade Adjutant during the Army Day Parade 2024 held in Lucknow on January 15.
Ms Aishwarya led the Army Air Defence Contingent. The daughter of Ajjinanda Ganesh Aianna and Monthi Ganesh, Ms Aishwarya transitioned from a successful career as a social media specialist to the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai. Commissioned into the 28 Army Air Defence Regiment in 2022, she has swiftly climbed the ranks.
Having completed her schooling at St Joseph’s Institution, Ms Aishwarya is a BBA graduate from Jain University's Center for Management Studies in Bengaluru. Her journey includes five years as an NCC cadet, holding a prestigious C Certificate. In 2017, she served as the contingent commander for the All-India NCC Girls’ contingent during the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
Beyond her military achievements, she is a national-level roller hockey player. Speaking on her inspiration to join the army, Ms. Aishwarya said, "As an NCC cadet, I had the privilege of leading the march past of the NCC contingent during the Republic Day parade in Delhi in 2017. These experiences motivated me to pursue a career as an army officer."
Army Day, celebrated annually on January 15, commemorates Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa's historic takeover as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949, marking a significant milestone in the nation's military history. Lt Aishwarya's commendable role adds a new chapter to Kodagu's legacy of producing outstanding military leaders.
