Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency: A Snapshot of Electoral Dynamics and Preparations

Madikeri/Mysuru: The Mysuru-Kodagu constituency boasts a total of 2,072,337 voters, comprising 1,017,120 male voters, 1,055,035 female voters, and 182 individuals classified as others.


Following the announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls schedule by the Election Commission of India, the Model Code of Conduct has been enforced for the Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency, where the polls are slated for April 26. The poll notification is scheduled to be issued on March 28, with the deadline for filing nomination papers set for April 4. The scrutiny of nomination papers will occur on April 5, followed by the withdrawal deadline on April 8. The Constituency will witness polling on April 26, while the counting of votes is slated for June 4, subsequent to the conclusion of all 7 phases of polling across the nation on June 1.



The Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency encompasses eight Assembly segments. In the Kodagu district, these segments include Madikeri and Virajpet. In the Mysuru district, the segments consist of Chamaraja, Narasimharaja (NR), Krishnaraja (KR), Chamundeshwari, Hunsur, and Periyapatna.


Madikeri has 236,568 voters, while Virajpet has 236,562 voters. The Chamundeshwari segment leads with the highest count of 345,320 voters. Periyapatna comprises 197,215 voters, NR Constituency has 306,600 voters, KR has 255,165 voters, Chamaraja has 252,922 voters, and Hunsur has 246,508 voters.


In the current election cycle, the Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency has 41,145 first-time voters aged between 18 and 19 years (21,369 men, 19,775 women, and one other), who have newly entered the electoral rolls to exercise their franchise. Among the Assembly segments, Chamundeshwari records the highest count with 7,636 first-time voters, while K.R. Assembly segment reports the lowest figure with 3,772 voters.


The Constituency is set to accommodate a total of 2,202 polling booths, with an additional 10 auxiliary booths distributed across the 8 Assembly segments.
