Ponnampet: D M Kaveriamma, a respected educator and recipient of the National Award for Best Teacher, from Kodagu passed away peacefully on 11th November at 11:11 pm, according to her family members.
She was 78. Kaveriamma, fondly remembered for her dedication and contributions to education, leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and impact.
Born to the late Madappa and Kuttammi of the Deyanda family, Kaveriamma married Muccatira Appachu, affectionately known as Appi. Together, they raised a son, Muccatira Bopanna, who currently serves in Customs and GST.
Kaveriamma’s career was distinguished by her unwavering commitment to her students and her profession, earning her national recognition and respect. She received the National Award for Best Teacher from the former President of India, the late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Her body will be placed at the family residence in Muggutageri, Ponnampet, Kodagu, allowing family, friends, and former students to pay their last respects. The last rites will be conducted at the Ponnampet Kodava Samaja Crematorium after 2 pm. Kaveriamma’s passing is a deep loss to her family and community, yet her spirit and contributions will live on in the lives she touched.
