New Delhi: Kodagu native Actor Rashmika Mandanna has been appointed as the national brand ambassador of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, aimed at combating cyber crimes.
Rashmika, who has a massive fan base with 44.2 million followers on Instagram and 4.9 million followers on X, will lead nationwide campaigns to raise awareness about cyber crimes, including deepfake technology, cyber bullying, financial fraud, and other online scams.
The actor’s appointment follows her own experience as a victim of cyber crime. Last year, a deepfake video featuring Rashmika was circulated online, sparking conversations around digital safety. Reflecting on the incident, she said, “Sometime back, my deepfake video was shared on social media, which was and is a cyber crime. After this incident, I decided to take a stand against cyber crime and spread awareness. I am happy to get support from the Indian government."

In her new role, Rashmika is expected to collaborate with the I4C to spread awareness about the increasing dangers of cyber crime and the precautions individuals can take to protect themselves. “Cyber criminals target everyone in different ways,” she added. "As the brand ambassador of I4C, I will keep spreading awareness against cyber crimes.”
Cyber Dost, the MHA’s official cyber safety awareness handle, welcomed Rashmika on board with a post on X, stating, “We are joining forces to fortify India’s digital landscape, we’ll tackle cybercrimes head on."
The I4C was established by the MHA to provide a framework for law enforcement agencies to address cyber crime in a coordinated and comprehensive manner, ensuring enhanced public awareness and protection from online threats.
