Bengaluru: A video capturing an autonomous robot collecting an espresso from a café in Jayanagar’s 2nd Block has taken social media by storm. The robotic delivery unit, fitted with a voice assistant, smoothly navigated the streets to reach Block Two Coffee, a café founded by Kodagu-based entrepreneur Don Nachaiah Ajjinikanda and his partner Shreyas H R from Tumkur.
Designed for autonomous deliveries, the compact rover not only arrived at the café independently but also carried physical cash to complete the purchase. The intrigued café staff packed the order and securely placed it in the machine’s compartment before sending it on its way. Customers at the café were left amazed, watching a glimpse of the future unfold before their eyes.

The viral moment sparked online chatter, with an X (formerly Twitter) user, Peak Bengaluru, quipping: “We got Coffee Robots going to cafes in @peakbengaluru, before walkable footpaths.” The humorous take resonated with many, leading to a flurry of discussions about Bengaluru’s tech innovations. Social media users quickly dubbed the device a “coffee rover.”

Speaking to The Kodagu Express, Don Nachaiah said, “It’s actually a remote controlled car for which an insta 360 is installed. We weren’t notified nor had any clue about its arrival.”
“I’ve seen this before in the west and was actually surprised by its arrival here. Thanks to Jayanagar’s wide roads and footpaths, it had no difficulties while carrying the order. And as block two coffee is an everyday kerbside coffee place, transaction was easy and smooth,” he added.
Block Two Coffee, located on 9th Main Road in Jayanagar’s 2nd Block, began operations on 30 November 2024. The café, run by young entrepreneurs Don and Shreyas, has now gained widespread attention.
