Virajpet: A wild elephant was spotted on the Hunsur main road in Thithimathi village, Kodagu, in broad daylight on Wednesday, causing a stir in the area. The elephant, which was seen calmly walking along the road, caught the attention of locals and passersby, who were startled by the unexpected appearance of the animal in such a main road area.

The elephant's journey didn’t stop there. It continued its route towards the Thithimathi Range Forest Office (RFO), further alarming the residents. Forest officials, along with local authorities, were promptly alerted to ensure the safety of both the animal and the people in the vicinity.
Later forest department officials guided the elephant back to its natural habitat, with the forest department monitoring the situation closely. This sighting is yet another reminder of the growing human-wildlife conflict in the region, particularly as elephants roam closer to villages in search of food and water.
