Wild Elephant Dies After Getting Stuck in Lake in Kodagu Coffee Estate

Upon receiving reports of the incident, forest department officials and staff arrived at the scene.

Ammathi: A wild elephant tragically lost its life on Thursday after becoming stuck in a lake on a coffee estate near Ammathi in Kodagu district. The incident occurred when the elephant ventured into the estate to drink water from the lake but was unable to extricate itself.

According to forest department officials, the elephant entered the coffee plantation and approached the lake for water. Unfortunately, the animal got caught in the water and was unable to free itself, leading to its death. "A wild elephant entered the coffee plantation and went down to the lake to drink water. However, it got stuck in the water and died," said a senior official from the forest department.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, forest department officials and staff arrived at the scene. They recovered the deceased elephant's body and conducted a postmortem examination. Following the postmortem, the body was cremated on-site.
